There is so much to see and so much to do when in Hualien. This place boasts of its natural wonders like the Taroko Gorge which is a popular attraction among the tourists. If nature is your thing, you will definitely enjoy a tour of the Taroko Gorge National Park and be mesmerized by its mountains, white water rapids, cliffs, waterfalls, and precipices.

Kids will definitely have the time of their life for a visit at the Hualien Ocean Park. The park houses numerous rides, cable car and eight different zones for a day of fun and adventure.

If you desire that adrenaline rush feeling and you like getting yourself wet, don't pass up the chance to go whitewater rafting (between the months of April and November) on Xiuguluan River, Taiwan's number one favorite spot for rafting. While in the same area, you could opt to go whale and dolphin watching (season is between the months of April and November).

For a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean visit one of the several parks which includes Beibin Seashore Park, Nanbin Seashore Park and Meilun Seashore Park.

About 30 minutes outside of Hualien City is the Liyu Lake which is a favorite place for the locals to relax as they go boating or fishing. This is the venue for the Dragon Boat Festival held every June.
